Who are you?
o Thomas: Hello, my name is Thomas Chéreau. I lead the Airbus Technocentre Repair & Training Services team
o Denis: Hello, my name is Denis Bourdy. I lead the Airbus Technocentre Prototyping & Development team
· What are the areas of expertise of your company?
o Thomas: Build in 2015, we are a small innovative technological platform connected to Airbus Nantes plant. With expertise on both composite and metallic part manufacturing, Nantes plant ensures the assemblies of Airbus key components such as the Center Wing Box, the Air Inlet and the Radome.
o Denis: The Technocentre mission is basically to connect engineering and manufacturing communities within a development industrial platform. With direct access to high performance aerospace materials and industrial means, we propose a wide range of technical solutions to manufacture prototypes and demonstrators. We are engaged on ambitious composite projects for Airbus such as the fuselage “One-Shot-Box” and the “UltraFan” nacelle, but we are also open to other fields such as the space or marine industries. With 3 fiber placement machines, 3 autoclaves and 3 owens, we operate a versatile platform able to address all composites process : thermoset & thermoplastic, RTM & LRI, monolithic & honeycomb structures
o Thomas: An impressive setup, in the hands of our main asset : our manpower. 40 experienced operators, offering their expertise in support of non-serial activities. Among them, the “Repair Team”, a group of mobile and multi-skilled workers dedicated to internal/external Customer Services. Whether it is for Prototypes or Repairs, we connect our operational experience with the engineering teams to co-develop practical solutions. Last, but not least, our Training Room offers a wide range of “hands-on” trainings, tailored to our customers needs.
· Why is the region Atlantic France an asset for you?
o Denis: With the Technocampus Composites, the region Pays-de-la-Loire is offering a unique opportunity for the composite community to be co-located on the same platform. Ranging from academic researchers to top industrial actors, we can cover the full scope of composite manufacturing challenges.
o Thomas: Seeking interdisciplinary approach and technological transfers, the Technocentre has naturally found its place on this collaborative platform. Agile and connected to a strong network of partners, the Airbus Technocentre is a true gateway between engineering and the manufacturing industry…. definitely “The Place to Build”
