Atlantic France is an attractive location for innovative companies which have significant recruitment needs. The region is home to many high-level specialised training courses provided by Nantes Université or private higher education establishments, and three of these have just been set up in Nantes.
Microsoft Business Apps School: retraining to target new needs
After the opening of a Microsoft Experiences Lab in 2019, Microsoft inaugurated a Business Apps School in Nantes last April. It was created in partnership with Social Builder, which aims to improve gender equality in the digital economy, and WebForce3, a network of 50 digital training schools recognised as being of social utility.
The school offers a free training course to retrain in the profession of “Designer Developer of Applications”. Students do 6 months of intensive training, followed by a 1 year work-study programme in a partner company, and can obtain a Bachelor’s degree.
The Business Apps School meets the new needs of companies in terms of designing, deploying and automating business applications. It is estimated that more than 500 million new applications will be created by 2023: the recruitment of qualified profiles who master business and technological issues has therefore become a strategic issue for companies.

A tech & media campus in the centre of Nantes
Already home to an innovative 5,800 sqm Mediacampus, Nantes is welcoming new schools belonging to the international private higher education network AD Education: the ESD (Higher School of Digital), the ESP (Higher School of Advertising) and the IMAAT (Institute of Advanced Media, Arts and Technology).
The three schools are gathered in a 1,600 sqm building, located in the city centre, which hosts a coworking space, a photo studio and a web-TV set. Around 150 students will begin studying there in September, preparing diplomas for Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.
