A delegation from Business France traveled through our region last September. The 15 business advisers from 7 countries (Belgium, USA, Germany, Mexico, Italy, Brazil and Sweden) discovered Pays de la Loire assets in the sectors of innovation and industry 4.0.
Marine Renewable Energy
The two day tour started at Montoir-de-Bretagne, near Saint-Nazaire, to visit the plant where GE Renewable Energy is building the world’s largest offshore wind turbine, the Haliade-X 12 MW. The first 100 will be installed in US offshore wind farms by 2022.
Virtual and augmented reality
The second stop was at the Technocampus Smart Factory, one of the four mutualized technology platforms in Pays de la Loire. Dedicated to the digitization of industry, it offers shared virtual and augmented reality equipment for many applications in R&D and training.
Industrial automation
The delegation then headed to La Roche-sur-Yon (Vendée). After discovering the company SEPRO Group—one of the world’s leading vendors of industrial robots which equipped more than 33,000 injection moulding machines—the first day ended in Technocampus Robotique, specialized in industrial robotics.
Advanced manufacturing and aeronautics
On day 2, the delegation first visited Technocampus Ocean (a shared technology platform dedicated to marine structures and metallic materials) and IRT Jules Verne (a mutualized industrial research institute devoted to advanced manufacturing technologies). The 15 business advisers were then received by the global aeronautics leader Airbus, at the production site in Bouguenais, near Nantes.
Smart grids and clean tech
The tour ended with a visit of the SMILE showroom. This 180 m² interactive exhibition dedicated to intelligent energy networks, smart territories and sustainable mobility is part of an inter-regional project between the Brittany and Pays de la Loire regions called SMart Ideas to Link Energies.
