Cycle tourism has established itself as a key sector in the Atlantic France region. The area is a pillar in the manufacturing and promotion of cycling, hosting major bicycle manufacturers and cycling infrastructure specialists. It is also home to the national association France Vélo Tourisme and three major events dedicated to bikes.

Nature is Bike: roads and mountains, unique cycling trails

Nature is Bike is an annual event held in and around Angers, focusing on gravel cycling, which combines road and mountain routes. This event offers several routes that allow cyclists to explore rural roads and less-travelled trails.

In addition to the routes, Nature is Bike includes a trade fair with exhibitors showcasing cycling-related products, as well as workshops and conferences on sustainability and the latest innovations in cycling. The event provides a platform for cyclists to share experiences and discover new products and trends.

Anjou Vélo Vintage: an old-fashioned cycling meeting

Anjou Vélo Vintage is an annual event held in Saumur that combines cycling and retro fashion. Participants ride through the Loire Valley on classic bikes and in vintage attire, with a variety of routes to suit all levels of ability.

In addition to the routes, the event features flea markets with vintage bikes and accessories, exhibitions, live music, and picnic areas. It’s a great opportunity to spend some quality time with friends, family, or just the two of you, in a relaxed atmosphere.

The Région Pays de la Loire Tour: a race for experts

In 2023, the Atlantic France regional council created a cycling race for professional and semi-professional teams. Known as the Région Pays de la Loire Tour, it celebrates Atlantic France as a land of cycling and promotes the sport among young people.

The 700 km race lasts four days and passes through eight cities, creating a popular festival along the route. In 2023, the race was followed by 50,000 spectators and more than 3.4 million television viewers, as it was broadcast on the national channel L’Equipe.
