Naoden designs, manufactures and instals decarbonised energy production solutions. The technology developed by the Atlantic France company allows manufacturers to generate their own energy by recovering production waste.
Naoden uses solid waste to produce low-carbon gas or green electricity. The company converts the fuel into synthesis gas (syngas) thanks to a pyro-gasification process (pyrolysis followed by gasification).
Modular, standard and adaptable to customer needs, Naoden’s solutions can use class A and B woods, fruit pits and shells, and non-recovered industrial resources such as pulper refusal. The company is investing in R&D in order to also use Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) and wastewater treatment sludge.
The gas produced is low-carbon and can generate heat, or both heat and power. It allows industrial businesses to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and better respect carbon quotas, and can also be useful for local authorities.
1,200 thermal kW in the Bouyer Leroux plant
Thanks to a partnership with the Spanish company Beralmar Tecnologic, Naoden has installed its solution at Bouyer Leroux, a major brick manufacturer located near Cholet. 4 Nobilis modules consume 3,500 tons of biomass in order to produce 1,200 thermal kW. The syngas produced is burned directly on dual burners to supply part of the power the brick kiln requires.
Bouyer Leroux can therefore generate its own energy by recovering biomass and save on several expense items at once (gas, waste and carbon quotas). The only by-product is biochar, a residue concentrated in carbon which is used in agriculture and breeding.
A new fundraising round by the end of the year
Created in Nantes in 2015, Naoden first raised €90,000 on the crowdfunding platform WEDOGOOD, then €750,000 in 2017 and €1,6 million in 2020. The company continues to grow steadily, and is preparing another fundraising round which will take place in early 2023 to support the industrialisation of its production.
