The Swedish manufacturer Scania has a factory in Angers, Atlantic France. The site is going to build more trucks to support the group’s strategy to develop vehicle electrification and should recruit 200 to 250 additional employees.
Scania (Volkswagen group) is a world leading provider of transport solutions. The group from Sweden is based in over 100 countries and specialises in the manufacturing of trucks, lorries and buses.
The city of Angers hosts one of the three Scania Production plants in Europe. The industrial site welcomes over 700 permanent employees and produces 76 trucks per day.
Aiming for 100 trucks per day and recruiting more than 200 employees
Starting from May 2021, the Scania Production Angers plant will take on the production of combustion engine trucks currently assembled in Södertälje. The site in Sweden will indeed be dedicated exclusively to the assembly of electric trucks, a sector in which the company aims to become the world leader.
It is great news for our site and the city of Angers. The Scania Group continues its transformation towards more sustainable development. It trusts the employees of Scania Production Angers to support its ambition in this important stage of preparation for the electrification of its trucks.
Petrus Sundvall, President of Scania Production Angers
The transfer to Angers will be gradual, but the union of employees is expecting the production to reach at least 100 units per day and that 200 to 250 additional employees will be recruited in the coming months.
